Iconic Town Properties in Aberfeldy on the Market

BELIEVED TO DATE from the late 19th century, the twin properties of Lawers View and Craigthuill are located close to Wade's Bridge and the Black Watch Monument. They enjoy splendid views across the Tay towards the Glenlyon hills.

Since 1959 both properties have been in the ownership of Perth & Kinross Council and have been used to house pupils from Breadalbane Academy from the landward areas during the school week.

Surprisingly they have retained many of their original features in good order. These include impressive fireplaces, decorative plasterwork (see example pictured above), timber panelling and fine staircases.

The late Victorian houses are detached but currently linked by way of an inter-communicating corridor and the electricity, heating and alarm system serve both buildings.

Lawers View has ground floor accommodation consisting of a vestibule with a south window, entrance hall with impressive staircase, cloakroom with WC, bay windowed sitting room, drawing room, rear hall, dining room and greenhouse in disrepair. There is also a larder, kitchen, utility room, lobby and cloakroom with three WCs and three wash hand basins.

The first floor consists of a landing, five bedrooms, a vintage black and yellow art deco bathroom, and two lavatories.

Craigthuill ground floor accommodation consists of vestibule with south facing window, entrance hall, inner hall, corridor and cloakroom, wood panelled drawing room, three bedrooms, dining room, study, wash room with two stalls and four wash basins, bathroom and separate WC.

The first floor consists of landing, six bedrooms, box room, hall, wash room divided into cubicles and lavatory with three stalls and five wash basins.

There is a single timber construction garage and a boilerhouse to the rear of Craigthuill with communal boiler. There is parking to the rear of each property, both of which have their own garden and an additional area of level lawn at the rear.

Viewing is by appointment only via the agents CKD Galbraith who are seeking offers in excess of £500,000.
